Chairman of the Board
Michael Gontar, a self-described finance guy, loves being around technology and rapidly expanding organizations. That deep-rooted love of business strategy, combined with his interest in U.S. manufacturing, set the foundation for Michael taking on the role of TSI’s board chairman.
In addition to his role with TSI, Michael is chief investment officer and a director of Wafra Capital Partners Inc., an SEC-registered investment advisor with more than $3.5 billion in assets under management. Michael serves on numerous boards, including TriplePoint Capital, LLC, Reliant Asset Management, LLC and Somerset Capital Group. Prior to joining Wafra, he worked in the Transaction Services group of international accounting firm KPMG LLP, specializing in private equity due diligence and financial transactions.
Always on the go, Michael is the co-founder and principal of a real estate investment firm focused on low-income residential properties in the New York region. In addition, he was the vice president and co-founder of a nationwide wholesale company and serves on its board of directors.
Michael is a graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Chief Executive Officer
No stranger to technology companies, Bruce has held numerous senior consulting and executive positions with major semiconductor and silicon photonics companies and has over 35 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. Most recently, he was the COO of Coriant Advanced Technology, LLC (Silicon Photonics). He was also the President of Capella Photonics, Inc. (manufacturer of wavelength selective optical switches), CEO of Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd (a semiconductor foundry), President/COO and acting CEO of Xicor, Inc., and prior to Xicor, he had worked at National Semiconductor Corporation for over 25 years, where his last position was Managing Director of the Advanced Technology Group in Santa Clara, CA. Bruce previously held Board member appointments at Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Atlantic Quantum Sdn Bhd, Xicor, Inc., and Redwood Microsystems, Inc.
Bruce has a B.S. degree in Materials Science from the Mass. Institute of Technology (MIT) and has also received extensive executive management and business training from the Sloan Business School at MIT, Caltech and Western Business School. Bruce was the inventor or co-inventor of three U.S. patents and he received the Semiconductor International “Process Patent of the Year” award. In addition, he was the first Vice President of Manufacturing Operations at SEMATECH in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Toan is the Chief Executive Officer of Wafra. Prior to joining Wafra, he was a partner in the New York based law firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, specializing in international taxation, financial transactions and cross-border leasing. From 1979 to 1998, Mr. Toan was a partner of the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie, specializing in international taxation and cross-border transactions. Mr. Toan is the author of numerous articles on international taxation and speaks widely on international taxation and financial topics. He is a member of the Editorial Supervisory Board of International Tax journal. Mr. Toan received his JD and LLM. in Taxation from New York University Law School.
