March 14, 2018 - TSI Semiconductors Hosts Placer County Students for “National Pi Day” Event
“National Pi Day” – March 14, 2018 (Pi = 3.14)
March 30, 2018 – Roseville, CA: International semiconductor technology developer and production volume CMOS foundry company, TSI Semiconductors (TSI) opened its normally closed, secure campus/laboratories to host and inspire regional students and STEM-related instructors in celebration of “National Pi Day” (NPD), Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
Presenting “National Pi Day” in partnership with the Placer County Office of Education, TSI hosted the educational/interactive event at the TSI corporate headquarters (7501 Foothills Blvd., Roseville, CA, 95747). Launching at 10:00 am, approximately 50 students and mentor instructors from regional high schools in Auburn, Loomis, Rocklin, Roseville and other South Placer regions:
The goal of the NPD event was to validate and emphasize the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) education – and the various TSI jobs requiring those essential skills in practical application every day.
“While opening our closed campus and providing site tours of our secure facilities is definitely a rare occurrence, “We enjoyed hosting the students and instructors on ‘National Pi Day’,” states Bruce Gray, Chief Executive Officer of TSI. “As a technology manufacturing plant, and one of the region’s largest private employers, we require a workforce with strong math, science, engineering, and problem-solving skills, to operate successfully. Unfortunately, we often hear from regional educators that it is sometimes difficult for kids to make the connection between their current interest and studies in math and science; and how those skills maybe applied to secure real, fulfilling, future jobs. That’s why our TSI team used the great math-related ‘Pi Day’, an opportunity to demonstrate first-hand, in an immersive and interactive way, how our employees apply their STEM-related skills every day to ensure our company remains a global technology leader. We hope our ‘Pi Day’ tours and demonstrations inspired these students to pursue STEM opportunities; and perhaps someday, become future employees of TSI and other regional technology employers!”
